War On 03:31
There's a war on, between you & me. Not sure why we're fighting, but we're armed to the teeth. No white flags, cause it's too far along. No one wants to be here, or the first one gone. Can't tell who's won, cause we've both been keeping score, two versions of the truth, no way to win a war. We don't know, how to live in peace, neither one wants the fight to cease. We'll never see the dawn, our love is too far gone, there's a war on. Refused to stay down, on the ground. Couldn't run for cover, I didn't duck my head. There's a war on, and it's easy to see. There's a war on, between you and me. We don't know, how to live in peace, neither one wants the fight to cease. We'll never see the dawn, our love is too far gone, there's a war on.

The Ship 03:16
Once a mighty vessel that's finally run aground He's Lost his sense of meaning and no one is around His best friend was a captain and they served their country. They made important voyages far across the sea Chorus Everyone needs something To show for what they've done Everyone need something after its said and done He was built to go to battle and carry men to war. But Time took hold and rusted out his core. He let them add paint and cover up his wounds. Never really thinking of his impending doom. Chorus the captain came to say goodbye. With tears in my eyes I smiled He raised his head and looked at me and I knew the reason why He spoke of one last mission where the ocean meets The sky Chorus Old ship on the water pulled into the shore Got nowhere to go to not needed anymore

Gone 03:50
Today is the day that we celebrate your birthday Light some candles and think about what might have been. With a cardboard standee that we'll put up in effigy plastic flowers sitting there as if they'll be seen. You didn't come back an amputee but I lost a part of me a scar that time won't erase but I'll be there when the last stone's in place said I'll be there when the last stone's in place. Chorus: Gone too long Gone too long Gone too long and we go on. You weren't lost in a battle not lost in a fight you came home wrapped up in stars & stripes. I consulted a psychic for the first and the last time a lady palm reader who told me about cleansing my soul Standing in the window staring at the crowd below see the look on her face but she'll be there when the last stone's in place said she'll be there when the last stone's in place. Repeat Chorus

Relapse 03:19
This summer was hot and I was down on my luck Had two flat tires on my ol’ pickup truck Wife met my girlfriend down at the IGA I got to thinkin’ bout’ back in the day. Chorus: That’s when I fell in a relapse Fell flat on my face Things went dizzy and All over the place I try to act sober out during the day But I tripped on the train tracks And gave it away I was doing good for several long years, Keeping a job And drowning those fears some friends came out And we went out on the town I had three shots of whiskey to wash it all down <chorus> Some time has passed, I’ve atoned for my sin, I gave up on cheap women And three dollar gin I had a role model, to help me along Then I moved to Colorado and bought me a bong…. <chorus>

Two hours south into Arkansas there's a place we can go, to slip by the law we were young and foolish, but you agreed to give it all up and come away with me give it all up and come away with me. We made a lot of noise in Yellville changed a flat in horseshoe bend before the night was upon us, we drove into Pocahontas I said I never want this day to end, I never want this night to end. Chorus: Our love was good in the Natural State had to drive south, we couldn't wait guess our whirlwind wedding wasn't love at first sight thought we'd be together for the rest of our lives thought we'd be together for the rest of our lives. 9am we were first in line no waiting, no witness gonna make you mine $40 wedding bands will suit us well only gold-plated and they look like hell only gold-plated and they look like hell. Two days later, we got back in the car drove till we ran out of gas barely passed New Madrid, when we fell out of love should've known then we were going to fast should have known then we were moving too fast Repeat Chorus

about

Basic tracks for these "fully-realized demos" were recorded live in a bookstore in about 5 hours. We utilized 7 microphones and the bookshelves for sound deflection. Two of the songs, "Gone" and "Relapse, are the actual live performances with no overdubs. The other tracks have varying numbers of overdubs, due to noise, leakage, or human error.

Produced and Engineered by Edward Henry with John Gilbert - A G&H Soundworks Production.
